My journey into sociopreneurship began back in the 1980s. I didn’t know it then, but it became the foundation for learning how to become a social entrepreneur and understanding what social entrepreneurship could mean in practice, long before the term became widely recognised.
Looking back across more than 40 years of building businesses in over 20 industries, one lesson became impossible to ignore. The businesses that created the greatest impact weren’t driven by profit alone—they strengthened communities, created opportunities, and helped other people succeed.
That realisation eventually became Caboodle Connects and the philosophy I now call The Sociopreneur Method—building commercially sustainable businesses that create measurable benefits for the communities they serve.
A Sociopreneur is someone who builds a commercially sustainable business that solves real problems, creates opportunities for others, and leaves their community stronger than they found it.
